What is a booking agent? Do I need an artist manager or a business manager? How much should I pay a consultant? If you're asking these questions don't feel alone. It can be hard enough understanding what these people do but how do you know how much to pay or if you even need them?
Well the F.B.O.M is here to help! Below you will find key terms & definitions as well as links you can click for more info on each one. I strongly suggest all new artist/entrepreneurs read & research each term before entering into an agreement with ANYONE & if you have questions & would like a consultation just fill out the form below, but no matter who you may work with I pray peace, love, happiness & much success to you!
Consultant:
Consultants are deeply knowledgeable on tasks that are very important for you, and they can be a great help for your small business administration.
Depending on how far along their career is, a consultant may have multiple clients they are helping. This means that their time is also limited.
This is why you need to be very careful when establishing the payment system with the consultant. Not only will this help create trust between the client and consultant, but it will also make their job much easier.
Operations Manager:
An operations manager oversees the day-to-day activities within an organization to ensure efficient and effective operations. They are responsible for managing various aspects of the business, including production, quality control, inventory management, and resource allocation.
Artist Management:
Artist managers shape their clients' careers both in a day-to-day and long-term sense. They often help clients book gigs, plan album projects, orchestrate record releases and tours, create marketing and merchandising strategies, get paid for their work, and establish and pursue long-term career goals.
Booking Agent:
A booking agent schedules appearances, lectures, or performances for musicians, speakers, or other public figures. Their job duties are to negotiate and review contracts for performances, arrange travel, and confirm appearances. They communicate with promoters, venues, or other organizations that book talent.
Publisher:
A music publisher invests in songwriters and composers and controls musical compositions, whereas a record company invests in artists and controls master recordings. Not all songwriters and composers are recording artists and many recording artists don't write their own songs.
